ASIAN MEATBALLS

Jorge and I love Asian/Japanese/Chinese food, but I don't cook a lot of of it at home.  A stir-fry now and then, fried rice from time to time, but that's about it.  I found this recipe the other day on Pinterest with a link to a cool blog called East 9th Street.  A few substitutions were necessary based on what I had in my kitchen, but the overall result is the same, I would imagine.  We both really liked it and it was nice to have something different.

ASIAN MEATBALLS

MEATBALLS
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 c Panko bread crumbs
2 eggs
2 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp ground ginger
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 c onions, minced

SAUCE
2/3 c hoisin sauce
1/4 c duck sauce
1/4 c rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp ground ginger

OPTIONAL GARNISH:
toasted sesame seeds
sliced green onions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Mix meatball ingredients.  Form into balls 1 to 1 1/2 in. in diameter and place on baking sheet which is been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.   Bake 15 minutes.

Whisk sauce ingredients until well blended.  Drizzle on each meatball for an attractive presentation or put meatballs in sauce and coat evenly.  Garnish as desired.

Serve on white rice with a side of stir-fry vegetables.
