Reader Review . . . 

Molly is in love with Bailey Garner, but her parents want a "better" match for her.  She is strongly urged by them to pursue someone of means, but the consequences are not what they planned.  

This novel highlights a problem encountered by many young women in the past.  In an era when a woman's situation was governed by her husband's position in life, it was not uncommon for parents to seek an advantageous match for their daughter.  Love took second place to finances.  It is an interesting basis for a historical fiction novel.

The character of Molly is not exactly a sympathetic one.  Her motives and actions just didn't ring true for me.  For a young woman who knew her mind, she seemed to go with the flow when it worked for her, and then bounce back to Bailey at odd moments.  If this was reality, it would be a very cruel thing to do to a young man, especially one as nice as he is.

 With all due respect to the author, it just didn't work for me.  I may go back and read it again at a later date.  I feel that this is one of those novels that benefits from a second look.

 Clean romance with strong Christian theme
